MNS activities are conducted by a group of enthusiastic volunteers specializing in areas of their
interests. These groups work on conservation, education and recreational programs according to their
areas. Below you will find a list of Special Interest Groups (SIG) that are operating under the MNS
umbrella. All activities are conducted at state level.

The Marine SIG works towards the conservation of Malaysian Marine Ecology. Their activities include Annual Reef Checks, Island Fests, Children Educational Courses in Marine and Basic Coral Safe Snorkeling Classes.

The Birding SIG works towards studying and conserving Important Bird Areas. Their activities include, Annual Beginners Courses for Bird Watching, Raptor Watch, Local Area Monitoring of Important Bird Areas and Outdoor Bird Watching Trips.

The Photo Groups works towards capturing the beauty of the Malaysian Natural Heritage. Photos are used to describe better conservation methods to the general public as well as decision makers. Their activities include and Annual beginners Course for Nature Photography, Nature Photography Tips Talks and Nature Photography Expeditions.

The Path Finders are a group of enthusiast interested in finding new wild places. Their activities include trekking, mountain climbing and camping.

|
The Caving group explores caves in Malaysia. Their activities include, Basic Caving Course, Cave Explorations and Caving Courses for School Children.

The Herpetofauna Group is interested in introducing the world of amphibians and reptiles to the Malaysian public. Their most famous activity is looking for frogs or frogging with children in Bukit Gasing or FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia).

The Nature Guides are a group of volunteers interested in educating the Malaysian public about the great outdoors. The Nature Guides are well versed in identifying plants, animals and birds.

The Flora Group is interested in studying and conserving plants of Malaysia. Their activities include identifying and tagging plants in nature trails, conducting guided walks for botanical interests and compiling plant lists for important areas.
